Ducati India has launched the new Ducati Monster 797 Plus at Rs 8.03 lakh (ex-showroom, India), which is the same price as the Monster 797 that it is set to replace.

The Monster 797 Plus has been equipped with a fly screen and a colour-coordinated pillion seat cowl as standard fitment.  The fly screen and the rear cowl were offered as an optional accessory on the older Monster 797 for around Rs 36,000. Apart from the addition of these two accessories, no other changes have been made on the entry-level Monster offering.

Powering the Monster 797 is a Ducati Scrambler-sourced 803cc, L-Twin powerplant. Power figures stands at 73hp, while peak torque of 67 Nm arrives at 8,750rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Unlike the new Monster 821, the baby Monster doesn’t feature any electronic wizardry and the only safety feature is a dual-channel ABS. The bike features a tubular steel trellis frame which is suspended on 43mm Kayaba USD fork and a Sachs monoshock unit that is pre-load and rebound-adjustable at the back. Talking about competition, the Monster is priced at around the same point as the Kawasaki Z900, Suzuki GSX-S750 and about a lakh lower than the Triumph Street Triple 765 S, but it makes significantly lower power than all these bikes.
