Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) on Wednesday reported a net loss of Rs 249 crore ($33.30 million) for Q1 FY2021 (April-June 2020), as against a profit of Rs 1,436 crore a year ago.

This is estimated to be the company’s first quarterly loss in at least 15 years.

During this Quarter, the Company registered net sales of Rs 3,677 crore at a loss of 80 percent, as against Rs 18,735 crore a year ago.

Maruti Suzuki’s unit sales dropped 81 percent at a total of 76,599 vehicles during the quarter under review. Sales in the domestic market stood at 67,027 units while exports were at 9,572 units.

Revenue from operations declined 79 percent to Rs 4,106 crore as against Rs 19,720 crore in June 2019.
