The Volvo XC40 will launch in July 2018 and will bring a new young vibe to its segment. Initially it would come with the D4: 2-litre diesel, 186 bhp, 400 Nm, 8-Speed Geartronic. No Petrol variants initially but gets the R-Design as standard.
Volvo Auto India says it wants to capture a sizeable part of the compact SUV market – currently at 6000 cars/year. BMW X1 (37%), Mercedes-Benz GLA (35%), Audi Q3 (28%) dominate. New entrants include the new Lexus NX too.
When launched, the Volvo Auto India XC40 will have the highest number of features as standard, making it the most feature-rich compact luxury SUV.
XC 40 is the company’s smallest, least expensive SUV, but the Volvo XC 40 is equipped with autonomous tech. And on a well marked road, like Hyderabad’s ORR, it actually works. Radar-guided cruise control, auto braking, lane keeping, the works.
XC 40 also is pretty handy off road, has plenty of torque and part time 4WD system
